I've been able to get through the part with all the tar babies. but I can't seem to figure out how to kill the snake. It seems logical that you have to use both roaches, but I can't keep them alive at the same time. What do I have to do?

You haven't fully explored the extent of your N sword direction yet.

There's a room you can solve with your sword N that should help out.

killing the red serpent on the second pass (Sword pointing E).

- The roach can only shorten the snake once when coming out of its passage, after that I am not able to hold it back without accidentally smiting it or it catches fire and dies.

- I tried getting the second roach or a tar baby inside the snake loop, but then there remains at least one tar baby outside that I won't be able to kill afterwards.

- using the passage with the decoy potion also doesn't seem to work for me

Can someone help me?

Assuming your sword is pointing NW...

You only need the one roach.

There is a little dance you can perform that will essentially cause the roach to oscillate north and south, allowing you to shorten the snake.

Essentially, you want your sword to be SE of the roach in the ortho square. Then, you move north. The roach is blocked for moving east, so moves north instead. Repeat as necessary.

I have already cleared the room, but i would like to access the room to the west. I can only reach the area marked (1) with my sword pointing east.

On my second trip through this room, with sword pointed east.

I can't find any way to hit the pressure plate at 17,11 now. I can't get a golem in there because i have to be on the left of the giant to kill it, and i can't get a tar baby in there because they're brained.

You want the following situation:

HHT
HBS
HGG
AGG

H=Hot Tile, T=Tar Baby, B=Beethro, G=Giant, A=Arrow.

It's not trivial to acomplish, but quite possible.

How do I change my sword to E?
I thought that 5N1E (after being completed) would be the room to do so, because after beating it, there is the green tile you can use. The problem however is with removing the bombs

Now, it seems like I need decoys pointing north, but if I enter that area the briar will block me from going back to the entrance of the room.

Unless I can change to E in other room?

EDIT: Finally, I got struck by H&S blessing!!

Okay. How do I pass this room the FIRST time (starting with sword pointing NW)?

Should I kill the tar mother before it spawns, or the golem anywhere?

At what point do I stand when turn my sword, and how do I reach that point?

Do I interact with the brain in any way on this run, or should I find a way to leave it alive (which requires me to turn my sword before passing it)?

I'm kinda out of ideas already... Please, I don't want a "demo", I want some actual productive hints.

But as I see it, I have the following problems.

(1) I cannot pass out the western entrance, past the broken orbs, unless my sword is pointing NW. If I do that I will break the tar, so I also have to have time to retreat a couple of times to let the new babies down the tunnel.

(2) Also this means I must pass the brain with sword still pointing NW, and thus kill it.

(3) I cannot find a safe way to stand on the pressure plate at (3,25) - regardless of what I do with the mimic, including opening the southern pressure plate to close a door and kill one square of briar at (2,22).

(4) There is at this point no way to pass (10,15), and in any case that would only get me to (12,7) and the ability to leave the room with sword turned north.

(5) Regardless of whether I trigger the pressure plate at (24,24) or not, or indeed whether anything else triggers it (to open the yellow door at (2,26) rather than leaving it closed), the briars grow from north and south to kill me when I pass (3,25).

Wnat am I missing?

Hm, I got it. And I take it that the next time I come through the room is only a brief encounter, and - thanks to the oremites - I end up leaving north, with sword pointing NW?

And the third run-through, arriving from the north, is again a brief pass-through, ending up leaving to to the east with sword pointing N?
