I have been playing the piano for a few years now, mainly for my own enjoyment, and I was wondering if anyone would know where to get a copy(Music Sheet) of some of the(Piano) music for SubTerra?

While I'm at it, Why does it say "Since you're reading this, try pressing control-X from the information screen."? I've tried it, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

I'm afraid you can't. I'm unable to get in touch with the composer any more

Oh, that doesn't work any more. v1.0 easter egg.

Well, I believe Radiant had posted the ST music in a .zip somewhere. For the life of me, I can't remember what thread it was in, so I'll just reattach said zip file here.

Now, they are saved in a mid format, and if you open them with a program that can edit them, you can see each individual "instrument" and notes for it.

For a lightweight, simple, and limited editor, I recommend using Noteworthy Composer, found here. And not that I'm trying to promote a product (I downloaded a full version elsewhere...), but Mixcraft is just damn amazing for editing and remixing music, and it supports midi files as well. You can find it here.

Edit: I did this with all the music from the Final Fantasy games, so if one had the patience they could learn how to play all the cool songs from FF. :P

Pity.

Just out of curiosity, what did it do?

Since it's somewhat on topic, does anyone know how to learn how to compose good music? I have a pet project I'm working on, and I wanted to make it in a style similar to a FF game, but I really lack the skills that Nobuo Uematsu does. :/

Well, I've been creating music (mainly midis) for a few years now, and lately I've started learning mp3s. I'm not sure what a style similar to a FF game would be, though, as I've never really played any of the FF series.

Nobuo (and therefore FF music) is great. Some examples:

Here's a .zip archive of all the midi's from FF1 through FF6, plus a few choice ones. Pretty good stuff.

I remember that post, as well as one or two previous threads asking about the music in ST.

I did some digging a couple of years ago now, after one of the first music threads I came across here. Fortunately for everyone here, I managed to find most, but not all, of the midis used in the game. Here's what I managed to find, which doesn't include what's been posted here already.

I'm at college at the moment on a music course and have access to Logic Pro 8 which is a midi sequencing program for mac so i might have a go at making music that would suit subterra(or any game) just for fun

Music is always good, whether it's for ST or not. ;)

I would certainly be interested in updating the music for SubTerra.

I could help out with that as well. What sort of music? Calm-sounding music, like the original?

Something atmospherical. I suppose that's hard to define. But you don't have to take the original ST pieces for examples; for instance, the music in either ATOTK or Leylines is much better than that.
