When your HP is 1, the command "Set var _HP - 1" sets your HP to 0 but does not kill you. See: Forum Games, RPG Hold Anonymous, Level 3, Entrance.

Can confirm that in 1.2.3.116, having a script reduce your HP to zero via subtraction results in you dying, as it should.
