Tendry's Tale : Rule 3: Valor : 3 North, 4 East (0)

I'm in Rule 3: Valor, 3N4E, and there's a force arrow I can't get past. In 4N3E, there's another force arrow, blocking off an adjoining area. I've poked at the walls, killed everything possible, and done everything else I can think of. How do I get at, among other things, those life potions?

HALP!
