Sound of an opening chest in "Rule 2: 1N 3W" in Tendry's Tale plays in an infinite loop. I do not know how to reproduce the bug, but I have attached a savefile, where it happens (go straight to that room from where I saved).

I am using DROD:RPG Demo, version 1.0.1.47.

I can confirm that that happens on Linux with every single chest in the official hold that plays the sound effect.

Yeah, I noticed this as well while playing the game. Didn't have time to playtest much before release, sorry about that. Also I, er, had too much fun playing to go look for the cause right away when I encountered it. Also should really do something about that graphics..

Anyways, I'm on it :). It's apparently Linux-specific, so that helps narrow it down. Shouldn't be hard to fix.

Fixed. (The loop setting for ambient sounds was reversed.)

Fun fact: This bug was also in TCB, and went undetected for almost three years! Whee.

It seems I have encountered the same bug on Win XP - When I use Ambient Sound, the sound (both Oggs and Wavs)loops without a particular reason. I have attached a hold, though I have no idea if it is reproducible. The odd thing is that first, when I had the sound play in a global object it worked fine. Then I moved it no normal character, and it is looping ever since then (like three minutes ago).

skell, the character in that hold plays the ambient sound with looping set to on, so it should loop like it does (did you miss the loop setting?). If you did set loop to off on that ambient command, something seems to have turned it on somehow, but that's a different bug if so. (Also, the reversed loop setting bug was Linux-specific.)
