You can skip the guard boss by walking through his sword, and not hitting him. It'll cost you some HP though.

Probably intended. You have to make a choice between easy backtracking and a scoring point or a quick skip.

Yes, this is allowed, but it shouldn't let you get a score if you do this and come back to fight him later. I've fixed this in the next release of the TT hold.
