Every once in a while, I want to change the starting state of a door from open to closed, or vice versa. To do this, I need to erase the original door, place the new door, and then reset the orb commands. It's really quite tedious. Could we be allowed to place closed door on open door to change the entire door to closed, or vice versa?

The easy way to get around it is to place a square of open door next to your closed door - this will convert the closed door to open - and then delete the extra square. Or you can delete one square if it's feasible, then replace it with the open/closed door. If you have a lot of really closely spaced doors, this might not work that well, but in general it works pretty well.

On a related note, I think that diagonal doors shouldn't be counted as touching, and therefore part of the same door.

We've gone over this before... it was decided that it's tolerable as is.

Yes, but I still think they should be considered separate doors, because there's quite a few puzzles that sometimes need something like that.

On the same token, diagonal doors can also be used in a puzzle...

Yeah, but you can still bind them all to the same orb.
