Ok I mastered the hold. However, I kept on restoring after I finished the hold, to previous unfinished states of the hold to find all the secret rooms and beat them. Now I have the hold mastered at the lowest proper, and am wondering 2 things.
Where in the city exactly can you fnd the person who tells you where the master level is?
And how do I, or indeed, do I have to, walk all the way back up to the city from lowest proper? I tried going back up, but I can't find the way to go back through rocky hollow as the entrance in rocky hollow has a force arrow I can't pass.

Hold mastery drops the Master Door. Thus, if you've gotten the "Hold Mastered" banner, you can restore to the city via the restore screen.

As for the other part of your question, there are bound to be people talking about it. Now who do you know who likes to talk?...

Is there a difference between conquering the hold & hold "mastery"? I've been told I've conquered the hold but I haven't been able to explore 100% on the 25th level & the City. What do I need to do to get the bonus level?

Hold mastery is finding and conquering all of the secret rooms.

Also, now that you've conquered the hold, the Restore screen will show the number of secret rooms on each level. So you have a little bit more to go on than wild guessing. :) Just make sure to exit each secret room once you've solved it -- don't just kill the last monster and restore somewhere else or it won't count.

Do I need to be concerned at all about not having all levels explored at 100%?

no you don't, only the secret rooms need to be solved

So... I have mastered the hold but I have no idea where the master wall is.
Could you pin point where to find it?
