Did you ever figure it out? I can't, I know the vertical preference thing but can't figure out how to get it right.

Not to mention the roaches that get trapped on the opposite side.

I'm not sure what "the 12th move, the 13th move should be upward" means. But it was enough for me to figure it out, thanks.

But this doesn't help; no matter how short or long I wait, or whether I go upwards alongside the snake, it always gets caught in one of the force arrows above.

And I don't even understand how a solution could work in-principle, because the upper force arrows are 5 tiles apart. Since the snake switches between preferring horizontal and vertical movement every five moves, it should always move into one of the force arrows.

Can anyone help?
