Back on topic:
I think this request is kind of useless, because it will simply halt player's progress, forcing him to restart. Exactly the same thing can be done closing all exits with yellow gates. If you still have to do the player death after X turns thing, try the following:
One NPC tracks the number of moves, and when it is reached, it sets some variable, to indicate player's death.
Then there are a bunch of guard NPC's, who will appear on player death turn, init cut scene and init "
Move to Player"
command, killing player in the process. It is imperfect, but with enough sides covered it should work.
