I was up to level 22 in Drod AE, when my five-year-old son managed to corrupt my files. I have had to reinstall Drod, and seem to have lost all of my data. I don't want to start from level 1 all over again. Any suggestions?

Unless you exported your player before, there's nothing you can do. However, you could get someone on the forum to make a player for you which has the same progress as yours.

The title!

I thought this was some sort of complaint about misbehaviour in young people!

To answer the question, check to see if there are any backup .da_ files lying around in the folder. If there are, rename them to .dat files and you may recover the data if they have not been edited. If not, I'm afraid that you'll have to ask for help from someone to play to 22 and give you an exported player.

Also, what version are you using (Did you update with a patch?) and do you know how DROD was corrupted? If you can find out the steps taken to make it, you should post a bug report to see if the developers can fix it.

Kafka, are you a fan of that guy that never finished any of his novels? Franz Kafka is the greatest! I even have a t-shirt from Prague with his face on it.

Of course I'm a fan. I believe some of his novels ARE finished - ie, the 'unfinishedness' is a necessary attribute of the complete novel.

I've never been to Prague; but I have spent time in his favourite Vienna cafe, where I have drunk coffee, eaten the amazing jam cakes, and read the newspaper.

Somehow, I don't think he would have enjoyed playing DROD. . .

I can see that. When the problem is dealing with an enormous bureaucracy, it does seem appropriate that the story would never reach an end. But _The Trial_ had some extra parts that K was working on, and they never got added to the story. I think it was just becaue he wasn't done with them, but I'm no expert.
