Hey

A while ago I was looking for some honest, meaningful game reviews. And I've found it - metacritic easily fits that description. But how about finding games similar to X ? For example, I like Heroes of Might and Magic (1-4) and Master of Magic a lot. I recently discovered Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic, pretty much by chance. It has a lot of striking similarities to my two other favourites. In short, it's a great game, but it's already on its way down (as far as popularity goes). This is very important for multiplayer games.

This made me think about some game recommendation systems. What games are most similar to game X ? Are there any sites based around this concept ?

SOmething like:

(or last.fm)
but for games.

Edit:
escapistmagazine.com is just awesome, but while it has very interesting 'general' articles, it doesn't have many actual game reviews. I enjoyed Yahtzee's bioshock review, though.

Not quite what you're asking about, but interesting all the same: The Game Innovation Database
It forms a map of the first occurrences of various game mechanics. Pretty interesting.
