lets make the 24 game more interesting then:

24 game vol 2

use any 4 numbers from 1 to 9
use every math calculation (+,-,*,/,^,root,log and !)
with root and log use only a base with one of the 4 numbers
and get to 24


the 100 game (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 = 100)
make every number from 1 to 100 using all numbers once
(I'm gonna try this game with only + - * /)
(I'll see how far I get)

both games are big, but if you like it's fun
first game: 495 solutions
second game: 100 solutions

That is actually an extremely difficult problem, which probably cannot be solved without a computer program.
However, the largest possible number that you can make is much easier to find.

1) use 8 eight times and become 1000

2)a 3 digit number times 7 gives 3 thousand and that same number
(... x 7 = 3...)

3) use the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 once.
make a triagle wich each side has 4 numbers (3 corners + 3 times 2 numbers between the corners)
now each side (4 numbers) must be 20 (sum)
forgot the 9 :blush

For number 3, do you mean 2 numbers on a side and one per corner? In that case you need 9 numbers, not 8...

use only + - * /

make 132 with:
* 1,2,3,4,5
* 2,3,4,5,6
* 3,4,5,6,7
* 4,5,6,7,8
* 5,6,7,8,9

make 312 with:
* 1,2,3,4,5,6
* 2,3,4,5,6,7
* 3,4,5,6,7,8
* 4,5,6,7,8,9

Operations are from left to right, just like in stigant's example. Plus, I took the liberty of skipping an operation.

Obviously this whole list is computer generated. I could post the source of my program as well as *all* the answers, but I do not want spoil the game for others. And yes, I understand this is cheating, so there's no need to remind me.

That's true, it's not allowed to put 2 numbers next to each other, to make a bigger number. (if you need the number 25, you can't put 2 and 5 together, but for example do: (2+3)*5=25)
