What I'm proposing here is the ability to create a custom character and change its properties by selecting different options from a checklist.

For example, we could create a character that can move on water and land but not pit; or a deadly Wubba that can fly (it's possible to create a character with those attributes, yes, but not a Player Role).

As long as this is not abused by Architects it could be an incredibly useful tool. And though this idea has a lot of possibility for abusing, so do many others...

So what do you think?

Just like my request, only more clearly understood. I hope people agree with this because in all my past projects I've needed this kind of option in DRoD. (Well not needed, but it would make things easier)

It generally goes against the principle of being able to tell what things do in a room by looking at them.

If this is implemented, I hope it will force the architect to use custom images instead of existing ones.

Yeah, like an "Import Image" screen. If you couldn't import the image, it would keep your settings when you quit out of the customization tool (handy feature I would think), so you could either create the image, or to put the file in the correct place.

So do existing imperatives, and there's nothing stopping them from using custom images that are /exactly the same/ but take up space. So no, Maurog.

Then I am against this idea.

Wouldn't that infringe copyright?

Put simply: yes.

Put complicatedly: If I recall, Erik said somewhere that it was OK to use core DROD tiles unmodified for the explicit purpose of modifying other sets of tiles - for istance, to create a custom Beethro's sword, but leave Beethro intact, you may borrow Caravel's Beethro tiles as long as they are unchanged and you give credit where credit is due.

Hey, there are plenty of things in DROD that go against the idea of seeing what a room does by looking at it.

There's lots of potential for cheap tricks with this idea, yes, but that's offset by the enormous puzzle potential it would have. As long as architects made it totally clear what's going on, it's not so terrible.
