This was fun to make. I got some feedback and made changes on the original one.

Hmm, strange happenings. I just downloaded this one and it started me on Level 3. If I go to restore game, it shows levels 1 and 3 but the same room in both of them.

That's intentional. You go in reverse. (I believe the intro has a comment to that effect.)

Yes that was intentional. I thought it would be fun. I actually built level 1 first, then level 3 and finished with level 2.

Thanks, Jim

This was a fun hold.

Not too long, but quite challenging, especially chasing brained Queens around large rooms. :)

Err... I want to rate this, but what's the reference point? What's the difficulty rating of Dugan's Dungeon?

Yeah, I found that out. I finished level 3 and 2 and took the right hand set of stairs which took me to level 2 again. I tried a restore to the exit room but now it thinks there are rooms I haven't completed on both those levels

Dugan's difficulty is the default, 5 brains. Note that there are two separate ratings, fun and difficutly.

Game on,

If the default is 5 brains, then I would expect this to be around 2.5 brains. This obviously isn't as challenging as Dugan's, but even I had a hard time because I'm not seasoned at making certain moves. I tried to make this harder for the novices out there.

Thanks for all of the comments, Jim

OK.

So, for now, I've given it a 4 for difficulty rating. I think most of the Brained Roach Queen rooms are slightly easier than some rooms in L21, although the Roach Queen chasing under Brains was very tricky at times.

However, it was pretty fun for most of it, and challenging on the patience sometimes - L3 1N 1W was one of the best good examples of this. However, the rooms L1 3N 1W and L1 1N 1W were not very interesting or fun, mainly because the trapdoor clearing was rather tedious, especially if I needed to go through the room several times because I backtracked.

L1 3N was a great room, avoiding the first onslaught of Goblins and Roaches was fun. [Wait a second... I want to check those orbs... *checking*... the doors were toggling?! I never noticed. Grr... In that case, a Brain in each chamber would have made it a little more challenging.]

One negative, though. Some of the exits and entrances to rooms had you landing on Green or Red doors, like between 2N 2W and 1N 2W, or 1N 2W and 1N 1W. It's not really much of a problem, just more like a design thing.

So... Overall, it's a little easier than Level 21, but not much. A good hold for people who have finished most of Dugan's, and also a good challenge for anyone else who has already completed it.

Edit: I see the two ratings now. Grr. I wish they were better indicated. So I make the overall rating around 6

Nice hold

I was stuck in another hold, and the forum was down, so I loaded this hold to try it out. It was a nice one nighter, very relaxing because it didn't have frustrating elements,

Every once and a while I wanted the room to be a little more challenging but I was happy that I didn't get stuck.

Hope you make some more holds for us. :D

My favorite room was: level 1, 2 north

Because it took some work

techant,
Thanks for the response. I didn't think anybody was still playing this hold. It's nice to see a new name mentioned.

Thanks, Jim

This hold is awesome.

Although an AE hold, it is much better than many of the new holds out there.

The hold deals mostly with roach queens. Many of the rooms include brains, tar and goblins as well.

The 25 rooms are all well designed, interesting and fun to play. The only exception is Thrice North, Once West, which is much too tedious.

This is one of the top three best holds that I've ever played. Considering it's 5 years old, it is fantastic.

Quite easy hold, which is a nice change after trying to get past some rooms from Advanced Concepts. Its five and half of a year can be felt as it could use some polishing at places, but it can be forgiven. It works fine as a quick (30 minutes top) break from some difficult hold but not much else (for me at least).

2 Difficulty

skell and neveragain,
Hey!!! Somone's actually still playing this hold. Thanks for the feedback. I will have to dust off the ole' keyboard and look at making some changes in the near future, I'm sure a lot has changed in 5 years. Thanks again for the input, and I'm glad you like this hold.

Thanks,
Jim
