I just started Orion quest a week ago after finishing all the DRODs and I'm feeling really stupid. No one has posted this area for help, but I have no idea what to do. I can't get to the island to kill the roaches without getting immediately killed. What am I missing here. Thanks

This room takes full advantage of the fact that the player moves first (and kills things). Also, you should have noticed the interaction of sailing and sword direction. Explicit instructions below in spoiler tags.

Thanks. I never caught on to the fact that I could control the direction of my sword when I left the boat.
