I'm embarrassed to say the least! But can a grandmother, who remembers Adventure, play? I tried, but I'm pulling my gray hairs out handfuls at a time. I have 2 dungeon roaches, on level 1) coming at me from 2 sides. I've tried everything I can think of to knock them off, but I can only get one! The nasty things are equidistant from me. I am really & truly stuck. If I don't get unstuck, I'll have to get to work!

try stepping diagonally. This ought to help.

You can kill a monster by stepping Beethro such that the sword enters the monster's square; you don't need to swing the sword into the monster. Thus you can step such that after you leave the hall you kill one roach instantly (you can move across a corner diagonally...don't worry about the sword being "in" the wall), then hide around the wall and safely move your sword to get the next roach.
