Is there suppost o be a merchant in the city square so i can get the matches??? He isnt there. i keep going back and forth and Ill even go do something else for a while and come back and hes still not there. Does anyone know when he shows up???

also, how do i get the shield in the weapon shop, it says in the walkthrough that the weaponmaster is talking to the apprentice at the docs but I never see him there. someone please help me out!!!! Thanks so much!!!

Yes, but not until chapter four.

When the smith leaves isn't random, it's a plot point later in the game.

Note that both of these are optional sidequests.
