In this image, you will see that the edit timestamp precedes the posting timestamp.

The post in question can be found here.

Has this happened with any other posts?

Edit: I just figured that this was because the forum still thinks that Daylight Savings Time still ends on the last Sunday of October.

Erm... It still is.

The fact that they've changed the rule in the US only means that a very small part of the world ends their Summer Time in November. :)

Sure did. You won't believe how glad my mum was about getting back the hour they nabbed from her this spring... :D

Not to bring this up again, but this has come up again. (Now that chat has forum-based timestamps, having things be an hour off is even more disorienting than it was.) Can this be fixed?

Sure, just go into your profile...

Seriously, there are different rules in different places, it's a big pain. Does anyone know of some PHP module or something that does time zones and daylight savings time and all that good stuff?

DST is a nightmare on this forum in general (without the new DST rules in North America) - it's not worth it. Just change the times in your profile.

PHP5 handles them fairly sensibly (docs), but you need to keep timezonedb up to date to pick up various DST rules as they change.

At least you guys can fix your times in your profile -- I'm half an hour out no matter what I do. :)

Hm. Perhaps the dropdown menu, for those of us who aren't too bright, could include things like "GMT -4 EDT"? I'd at least feel more sensible than I do setting my time zone to AST, wherever that is. (Something wacky and Canadian, I assume.)

Total solution for all: Move to Saskatchewan and never deal with DST. :)
