Sorry for the awful pun :blush
I've been kinda intrigued by the trend lately away from submission topics and into the realms of open air competition. May main concern is that it might scare away the more shy competitors, and encourage idea theft (although the good nature of the forum seems to be preventing that.) and I'd be interested to know other forumers opinions of of this trend, whether they prefer to more lively discussion over secrecy and if (with the obvious exception of puzzle competitions) you believe that there are specific contexts in which you should use submission topics, and other times when open competition should be allowed; or if you should stick with one option always.
