Oh architects, I am once more in need of voice acting for my hold :)

Thus, this post is to ask for volunteers for people who want to do some voice acting. There are a few parts that I need filled. Most of them have no specific requirement, any voice will do. The larger parts, I suspect I'll do myself since they'll take so long, but the other parts... distinct voices would be good.

1) Guard voice - about 10 lines. Must be male. - TAKEN AND RECORDED
2) Worker voice A - About 10 lines - TAKEN AND RECORDED
3) Worker voice B - About 10 lines - TAKEN AND RECORDED
4) Stalwart voice - About 10 lines. TAKEN AND RECORDED
5) Goblin voice - About 10 lines, TAKEN AND RECORDED
6) Aumtlich voice - About 10 lines. TAKEN AND RECORDED

These are the absolutely essential parts. However, if there are more volunteers than there are parts, it won't be hard to fit the new people in. I *may* (not sure yet) need a Slayer voice.

The main requirement is that you have a working microphone and audio software, there's no point posting with "I'm willing to help, but I have no mike" :P. Last time, only a few of the voices in my hold were done by people from the forum (done superbly, by the way :) ), the majority were done by outsiders. Hopefully we'll get some homegrown talent in this time!

First come, first served :) If you can please send me, or post a sample of your voice? Provided it's not rubbish (which I doubt it will be), you've got the part.

If you're recording afresh, please record the following line...
"I wasn't able to see inside, but I can take you to the gate. Follow me!"

If you're sending me an older recording, don't worry about its content :)

Sure, I can do a guard or goblin voice like what we've got, if you like the guard and goblin voices in JtRH.

The goblin voice is the tricky one, everything else is more variable :) I assume from your post that you did the voices for those two in JtRH?

I'd gladly help with this but I got no mike :) My girl's getting hers tomorrow though, so let me no know if there are still things to be recorded by then. Male English accent here...

There's always things to be recorded ;-) Even if the main parts are filled, there's always minor ones.

I'm not a terribly experienced voice actor, but I'd love to just try out the guard voice. Having participated in the Grand Audition #2, I can state that I do have a microphone. :)

EDIT:

Here's an attached recording, me using my normal conversational voice. As such it is terrible and riddled with saliva and hesitation.

No objections to you doing the Guard voice. Obviously it wouldn't be a normal conversational voice, let me know if you want to claim that part :)

I'm happy to do a little more voice acting. I was an Administrator and a Museum guide in . . . errr - I can't remember which SMS! (oops - sorry!) and I was one of the gossips in TCB.

Excellent! I'll pm you the required lines :) If I remember your voice correctly, you'd be ideal for one of the Workers.

I'm not trying to be rude :) But the worker in question is a gossipy type, and the voice of the Gossip from TCB is ideal for it. No offence was meant :P

EDIT: Many thanks Elfstone for your soundfiles, they sound excellent. Have some modpoints!

You're welcome - and no offence taken :)

Actually I didn't do the "gossip" voice on the recording I sent you, but I can do another using that voice if you wish?

Hmmmm... the microphone's picking up the puffs of air against it rather sharply - leading to a lot of crackling. Your voice would be fine for the Worker, but we'd need to make sure that you can record at a suitable quality.

Try this - speak a bit louder than normal with your mouth reasonable close to the microphone... and a thin piece of paper in between your mouth and the mike - that tends to cut out a lot of the blasts of air that lead to distortion. Post the results :)

If that works and it can record OK, then you've got the job.

Just sent it. Please read the instructions, and good luck! Modpoints will be given upon successful completion (provided I have enough left - i need enough to reward the winners of the contest I'm running at the moment)

I'm going to bed now, as I'm absolutely exhausted. I'll look at the soundfiles when I wake up :)

Yeah, Znirk kindly stepped in. Apologies for not updating the thread, but it had been long enough that I thought people had forgotten.

In case you're wondering, the hold's in the latter stages of being betaed, just minor tinkers to go now and it can be submitted for HA approval.
