1: Look at my total post count, (-2, after this should become -1)
2: Look at the number of replies for http://www.drod.net/forum/viewtopic.php?TopicID=1744.

These two problems are caused by multiple deletions of a single post. One post is taken off, but it comes off of the different counts several times.

I assume this also affects the total posts count, though I didn't check :)

How do you recreate this? My testing shows that deleting a reply or a new topic decrements the post count as I would expect. Are you somehow deleting the post twice? I tried to do that and it caught the error and wouldn't let me.

Now my post count seems to be correct. Last night I left with -1 posts, now I have 4. (More because I am posting this)

The thread I mentioned still has 2 replies listed, while it really has 7.

The way I did it, is go to the edit/delete page, set the delete checkbox, and then clicked several times on the edit message button.

The first time I did it by accident. Then I tried again and it worked - (lowered my post count below zero)

Ahhh... submitting the request, then interrupting it with another request. Gotcha. I'll look into preventing that.

Okay, I *think* I've fixed this. There's still one little problem left, but I'm not sure how to fix it.

First thing that popped in my head to solve this problem was to have a file that keeps track of all the requests, and when a new request is made it first checks against the file to make sure it's not a duplicate. Then after the request has been fulfilled it's removed from the file. When forum traffic picks up though, that could start having a major drain on server efficiency.

I've noticed that many forums combat multiple-request syndrome by using a one-time-clickable button. The instant you click the button, it becomes disabled, making it impossible to click on it again. Pretty neat, but I don't know how hard it is to implement within the existing forum architecture.

That's an excellent idea that I just now noticed, 3 weeks later. I'll have to look into this. Thanks!
