I have a question about voting.

How do you handle voting when you haven't been able to conquer a room or hold? In situations like these, I can't tell if I'm to blame (I've missed something) or if there's something broken.

I've attempted to strike a balance. In this case, I gave "Allied Force" a good score, because I liked the layout and thought it had been well designed, even though I was unable to conquer the room. I gave "The need for speed" a lower score, because I was able to do everything except get past the last bomb. Either something is broken or I've missed something, but if getting past the last bomb is the hardest part of the room, then I'm not impressed. But how should I rank "The need for speed" versus a room I was able to complete, but didn't think that highly of?

How do other people deal with situations like this?

You have missed something

Anyway, when I get into a situation like this (and believe me, I do, some of BoyBlue's holds are very hard) I usually vote based on how much fun I had playing the hold, and lessen the influence of difficulty over my vote. Sounds like you might want to vote Allied Force higher, since you had more fun playing it and you eventually conquered the room.

Looks like Chaco is the winner here. I thought the winning entry was the most original of the group, and it looks like most people felt that way. It's a good thing he was limited to just 2 submissions or he might have swept the whole contest.

Sensible plan. *grin* Just having thoughts about making a hold that way. Hold several "make a room" contests with various specific requirements, then stuff them all together (with various linkers) to make a hold.

*shrug* I've been tempted to organise one myself, but the problem is that there's a couple of semi-active ones going on at the moment, and thus people would just point me to that one rather than contribute to the one I create. Even though the semi-active one seems (at first glance, I may of course be wrong) to just be semi-active.
