A little more artwork... Behind the cut since it's 800x600. This started out as a quick attempt to make the Really Big Sword... and grew into this little project.

Thus I present... Beethro vs 39th Slayer.

EDIT: Did another piece at Ezlo's request. It's lower down.

That particular one was done in Bryce, with a little final touching up in the GIMP. I'm responding to Ezlo's request and making a second one. Similar setting, but slightly different. Should be rendered soon :P

Wow. Make one with a slightly less dark background and it's definitely wallpaper material! For a computer I mean. :P

Might just do that :P However, it'll have to wait, as I'm gone all day tomorrow and I'm off to bed now.

Perhaps I'll make a variation on the "Ice" theme? The Beethro model's good as he is, so I need to make more monster models, so I can make custom scenes.

Neat pictures! I love the blue potion.

I think it'd be nice if you could add spikes on the slayer's body.

:? Not that good, in my opinion.

Basic shapes and awful textures do NOT make a good picture.

Hey, I'd like to see you make something better!

But, man, those were some really cool pictures! I'd love to see more! :D

ARGH.

Okay.

'Let's see you do better' is not an acceptable response to 'x is terrible.'

I cannot bake a good cake. However, I can distinguish cake that is delicious from cake that is not delicious.

I'm pretty sure you can too.

In fact, while I think this is cool, I am taking zonhin's side now solely because somebody told him that.

To each their own :) Some think those pictures are good, some think they're crap, and I'm not offended if you think they're crap :). I have not put in anywhere near the amount of time required to become a good artist, I need a lot more practice. I do have programs and tools that could have done a more realistic shape (Blender is a very nice one for that purpose), with better textures, but I wanted to keep this one reasonably surreal and different. Since each pic took less than a hour to make, I'm surprised people like them at all - they were a rather quick effort :blush

I agree that "can you do any better" is logically fallacious. The response to that is "I don't have to have a better idea to know that your idea is terrible." On the other hand, my personal opinion (and this is a situation which calls for opinion) is that the picture is actually pretty cool. Basic shapes and simple textures don't have to make a good picture, but in my opinion this picture shows that they can.

Alright, alright, it was the wrong thing to say. I just thought that zonhin was really insulting the pictures, and it looked like calamarain put a lot of effort into them. Sorry then guys.

It's a red cross actually. Savepoint :P

As for the pill, it's a potion bottle. It's got a stopper in :P

Ezlo requested a lighter one, so I did another in the series. This one represents Beethro about to run his sword through a roach in an icy, watery landscape, with a roach queen lurking in the background. Thumbnail here... and big image behind the cut

I believe it's been done already, though only for Architect's Edition. Have a look around the site, I forgot quite where it it. Might be under Links.

I though the Evil Eyes looked weird because they weren't abstracted from their original design enough. :P I thought there would be enough room for that certain kind of artistic interpretation. One could explain how the Slayer has 4 arms because he is good at killing, also lacks facial features as he mostly doesn't rely on sight as his primary mode of detection, more monstrous as they lack humanity, and with an exposed ribcage seems to have weakness despite it being monstrous. But such juxtaposition could be merely coincidental.

Uhh... ;)
