I found the Undercity by looking through the room images on this very website and looking for green citizens, as they refer to scripted elements, and then seeking them out.

Hmmm . . . I think after finishing the Pirates' Hideout I'm supposed to come back to this level and do something, but I don't recall that one of the many cryptic characters actually told me what. Am I on the right track, or am I supposed to move forward somehow?

I'm having trouble with this 'hunt' - I think I remember speaking to 2 people (and no-one in 3N2W or 3N3W will tell me anything more), but I can't remember the second hint (I wasn't taking too much notice the first time through ), so I'm stuck on the third person. The 'MASSIVE UBERSPOILER' square doesn't work for me yet though, so I've not accidentally found them, as far as I know.

This is my second visit to the city after completing Pirate's Hideout. I met the 3 people, found the secret passage and found 1N5W. I understand that you can't get thru the gates until after you complete all levels. So what do I do next? How do I get out of this level. There is no one to open the gates at 3N3W. I'm so confused that I don't even know which room to go to to look for some advice; so, I apologize if this is a repeat question. Please help me!!!

After completing Pirate's Hideout, there are more puzzle levels to find. Remember that you need to walk there; don't use restore, or you may accidentally go back to a time before you completed Pirate's Hideout.

When you return to the City after completing Pirate's Hideout, the first place you should go is:

I have now wandered through the City more times than I can remember and I just can't find the way to get down the stairs in 3N 3W, presumably to the Archival Catacombs. Can someone please take pity on me.

if you want to get to Archival Catacombs, passage to them is in 1N 4W

I've been to the Archivists' Lobby uncountable times on this journey but, from when I played The City Beneath last year, I seem to remember needing a pass to get in and I don't have one. I've obviously missed some necessary move. And I guess I'll eventually arrive in The Rooted Hub or do I need more help with that too? I'm feeling quite dopey. Please put me out of my misery.

You just need to step somewhere near desk of guy with purple hat in archivists lobby. Then cutscene will start, and eventually you'll get to archival catacombs

I have entered the lobby enough times to stand on each tile on the second row from the guy with the purple hat and each time I've been welcomed — but no matter where I stand after that, nothing further happens. I've gone across to the orb to release the gate but as I don't have a sword nothing happens there either. Have I lost my sword somewhere along the way perhaps?

Thank you so much for getting back to me – I went on to other holds instead. But I've now reverted to TCB, went back to 5N 3W and I can't find the house and there's no–one there, let alone a slayer. What should I do next. Perhaps I should begin TCB again.

Check if you really arrived in 5N 3W and not, say, 5N 3E or something.

Thanks for your help. You're never really alone when you play DROD are you? Looking at your screen shot I realise I should be in the NE corner of this room so it's back to the drawing board – I haven't done 6N2W!
