My basic path was from 1 to 2 to 3 (clear most of that region, leaving a path by 6 to get out. Then to 4 to 5 to the path you left in 3 to 6 and back out via 1.

After that, I worked my way around the edges of the board without dropping any more trapdoors, clearing out as many of the mud skippers as I could lure to the sides. This is pretty much all of them except the 9 or so in the center.

After that, you can connect the dots on the second picture, and repeat that pattern (#'s 3-8) all the way around to get the last 3 corners. Don't forget to clear the triangles as you go! Except for a path from 3 to the SW so you can exit the island at the end.
