I need help... badly... I can get to the first decoy potion and smite the upper left queen, and I know to stand on the edge of the trapdoors and kill the roaches, but I need to somehow get one turn more efficient to get to the next potion. There appears to be no way to do this... I need to get to bed now...

I was doing it the way Sillyman first described, and it is possible that way. It took me forever to get that one vital extra move though. What it took was:

I'm stupid? Did I'm missing another clone potion? This room is unsolvable because of the trapdoor puzzle... How do you solve it? A square always stay...

Stuck here too. I don't know how to get either of the NW and SE queens without them spawning. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

It's OK if the queens spawn. Just make sure Beethro or Beethro's clone have access to clean up the roaches.

In my solution, I only killed one queen before the first spawn.

For some reason I can't get this room's challenge to register, even though I've completed it several times. I've been working my way through all the games in order, doing all the challenges, and this is the only one out of hundreds that hasn't been awarded when I expected it to be.

"Decoy Double Cross: Take the northwest decoy potion first, then clear the room." Yup, I could swear that's what I'm doing. Anyone have any ideas what condition I might be failing to meet? I see that 2.1% of players on Steam have gotten this achievement, so clearly it's functional, or at least was at one time.

Please post a demo, and then I can look at it and work out exactly what's wrong

(If you're not familiar with demo saving and exporting: First go into Settings and see whether automatic demo saving is turned on. If it is, you should already have a demo. Press F6 while in the room to call up the demo selection menu, and export from there. If not, play the room again and press F4 to save a demo, then export it via F6.)

Thanks for taking a look! I'm braced to find out just how stupid I'm being. (That... IS the northwest decoy potion, right? And I am taking it first, right?)

I understand now. There's a minor issue with the scripting for this challenge: it checks whether you have taken the NW potion first by waiting until a potion is taken, then checking if the player is where the NW potion was. Unfortunately, if you switch to the clone on the very next turn, as you did, then the player is no longer by that potion so the script incorrectly fails you.

So all you need to do is re-order things slightly so that the Beethro on the trapdoors is the one that makes the very first move after taking the potion, and it should work.

Excellent! That did the trick.

I suspected it might have something to do with the clones confusing the script but I wasn't sure what to do about it. Thanks so much for your help!

Here's an idea for a fix, wait for a potion to be taken, and then use "wait for item" to check if the northwest potion is gone.
