Just in the interest of ornithological correctness...
Having a couple of weeks on the Galapagos Islands -- in the company of a naturalist and a biologist -- I was a little skeptical about this bird being one of Darwin's Finches. Although there is a lot of variation amongst the 14 birds in the family "
Darwin's Finch"
, all are either
brown or black. A quick google search and I found the image's location
here. I'm guessing this person, John Oswalt, was there as a tourist. He likely mis-identified the bird or was mis-informed by his guide. I believe that bird may be a
yellow warbler, also very common to the Galapagos.
I'm not contesting the results of this game: one, meh, what does it matter; and two, the website BeefontheBone consulted identified it as a Darwin Finch. I just didn't want anyone to go around thinking Darwn's Finches come in yellow. I mean, imagine the catastrophes that could happen.
