Is it possible to get these holds? If so, where?

Yes, it is very possible to get these. Go to the thread, and then look on the left side. Normally, there will be something clickable followed by a size in bytes. Click on it, and something will ask you to open or save or whatever. I save it normally, but that is how you download it.

You have to open it from DROD: AE. Click the "Where" button, click import, and then find the directory you put it in, then play.

Perhaps this forum needs a link on top with an explanation of all this - just so we don't have to answer this question over and over again every time someone new joins.

The directory I put it in is empty except for my own hold. Is something wrong?

If it was empty to start with, no. :D

Sorry, I'm not helping. If you mean that the import box shows only your hold, don't worry - it only recognises hold files so it won't show any others.

Actually, the game creates a Homemade directory in the drod/data folder for you to keep exported and downloaded players, holds and demos. It's not necessary to keep them there, but it stops you forgetting where the hell they are.

Wherever you your hold files, (whether you download them or export them) this is where you have to go to find them. Everything should default to the "homemade" directory, so if you want, you can keep all of your hold files there. But nothing stops you from keeping hold files in other directories of your choosing.

I think I might know the problem. When you downloaded the holds, you might have saved them as something like ClaythroTower.hold.php (this is what my browser does by default). If this is the case, manually rename the files to something like ClaythroTower.hold (so just remove the .php extension). Then DROD should be able to find them.

What do you mean when you say you can't find them? Do you click on Import, and then go to the directory where the .hold files are, and then they just don't show up in the file list of the import dialog box? So there are no .hold files to click on?

To the person who gave the idea about .hold.php - you were right. When I try to open it, it says .....hold.php could not be opened, but the name itself just says .hold - what should I do?

You are probably hiding file extensions for known filetypes, that's windows default setting.

Where you change that depends on which windows you run, maybe Tools->Folder Options, under the View tab, Advanced settings.

Other versions I think have it under View->Options.

That's what I did before, and I guess it should work, but when I try to change it it says "The specified program could not be found. Make sure the filename and path are correct". So.....what now?

I'm not sure if you understood bdcribbs correctly. If you've already tried this, my apologies.

For Windows XP (the box may be on different places on other systems):
1. In My Computer, choose Tools -> Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Clear the checkbox marked "hide extensions for known file types."

Once this box is cleared, you can navigate to the folder where your holds are stored and rename them to .hold instead of .hold.php.

You need to explain to us more what is happening if we are going to help you. What exactly did you do to get this error message? Was it when you tried to make the filenames unhidden? Was it when you tried to import the holds? Did you try to double-click on the hold file for some reason? What version of Windows are you using?

Also, the above error message sounds like you are double-clicking on a shortcut file that is pointing to an incorrect location. I don't understand why this would be the case, but that is what I get when I try to use a bad shortcut or try to make a bad shortcut. So, why?

Game on,
