×I can get the golem in, but he has to move counter clockwise because of the snake, so he always gets stuck in the upper-right corner

I thought I'd find my answer here but I actually need help with the OTHER snake. Can't take golem past used trap, can't bring golem or blue snake up through down arrows, and no place that I see to trap the snake. obviously I'm missing something but I just can't see it! Help please?

no actually it doesn't since the arrow from the blue snake orb is also a trap door. unless he is somehow supposed to go in before me

Considering that there isn't a single arrow on a trapdoor in the whole room I rather doubt that.

well my version does have a trap arrow. I'm talking about the arrow that leads fromthe orb room over the blue snake to the room below theright hand red snake. If I could get the gollem in there it would be easy. but unless I keep missing something really obvious the golem can't follow me over the trap arrow nor can he come up from the bottom against the force arrow. Unles golems CAN travel backwards over arrows and I've just never noticed. Seems odd that no one else seems to have a trap door.
This is the arrow I am talking about. Although I can't see a trap door here, there is clearly on in mine.

Mani, you should go ahead and import the most recent version of this hold. Download it from here (top post in thread). After importing it, you may restore to this room. There's no trapdoor at (1) in the most recent version of this hold. That should make things a whole lot easier for you.

For further reference - if the room you see on your computer differs from the room shown here on the forum you can be quite sure that you don't have the latest official version of a hold since that is what the forum uses to render the site's room images.

Thanks thats good to know. Never ran into that issue before except for different colors and I think that might have beenwith kdd or ae versions.

I am having an issue getting the hold though. If I download the hold attached to the start of the hold:BMS thread, thought the name is slightly different I get the same room with the same trap.

download as BMS .hold - it imports but will start at a new game and cannot restore. If I change the name to
BMS.hold (same as my original file)- it wont import because it thinks its there. If I just try playing it and no reimporting it I still get the trapdoor even if I restore the the previous room and walk into 3W. Not sure how to manipulate the dat files. How can I use the newer version and NOT lose all my levels

Oh no! I'm not sure anything can be done about that.

What should happen when you import a new version of a hold is that the game replaces the old version with the new version, and you wait a minute or so while it checks the integrity of your old demos against the new version of the hold. After that, you should have the option to "Start a New Game" or "Restore". You do not get the option to "Continue Playing".

If you are able to choose between the two versions in your Change Location screen, that means DROD thinks the two versions are completely different holds. I don't know how, or even if its possible, to correct that. I'm so sorry!

But before giving up and replaying from the beginning, there's one last thing you could check. Are you playing with the most recent version of DROD? 2.0.16 for JtRH or any version of TCB?

Here's the scoop so far...

I removed the MSB files to elsewhere. Then I reimported the new file again (rabbits link) and renamed it like the old one and saved. when I started JtRH I came up with the same trap.

Not sure what version I have, where can I find that? Didn't see it anywhere.

Dont have TCB yet playing w/ the demo first <G> and I planned to have all the holds up to its release done first lol

oops and I forgot to ask... Is the BMS version on the root the newest version? After all, it does say in big red letterst hat the newest version can be found at the bottom, but I just can't find another place to dl BMS from.

Unfortunately, renaming and moving hold files won't do anything. DROD identifies the hold by an internal HoldID number that is coded in binary inside the hold file. If the HoldID of your early version of Beethro's Mission: Spiders is different from the HoldID of the most recent version, then DROD will think they are different holds. If that's the case, I don't know what to do about it, sorry.

The most recent version of Beethro's Mission: Spiders is at the top of the thread on the Holds board. That red text is outdated and needs to be removed.

To find out what version of the DROD software you are using, look in the upper right corner of the main menu you see when you open the game.

What probably happened is you either played it when it was on architecture, on a beta test board or an early release. Later, the hold id (as explained by CuriousShyRabbit) was changed (and I seem to remember it did).

The result would usually be for you then to have the hold listed twice when you go to "Change Location". Filenames and the such won't make a difference.

"Good" news is, this would have happened to everyone in the same situation If you find yourself spending a lot of time playing DROD and trying out various holds I'd recommend investing in a CaravelNet subscription (around 7 UK pounds per year if that's your currency). It allows downloading holds in game which tracks updates etc so you'd never be caught out by a similar issue again. It allows highscore tracking and other cool stuff too, so worth taking a look. People on the forums with a trophy type icon under their posts are registered if you've any questions.

Overall it's good value for money if you do play a lot of DROD.

Uhhh... slight correction there: those issues can still crop up if you're testing (or at least importing) a hold before it's release on the hold board...
