If pressing 'F5' in the editor to test a room, there are certain squares which it (rather sensibly) won't let you start from, such as "on a wall or obstacle" or "on a staircase".

But for some reason, you can't start on a square with both a level entrance and either an arrow or a potion. Arrow, yes; potion, yes; level entrance, yes. Level entrance atop other second-layer things you can stand on (fuse, ortho square, scroll): also fine. But level entrance plus arrow or potion, no dice.

Also you can't start the room if Beethro's sword is on a monster.

I'm fixing/allowing these in 2.0.15.

One more room entering bug:

When you are playing (not in the editor) and there is an invisible NPC under your sword when you enter the room, you will hear a stabbing sound.

Well, you've just killed an NPC, so how's that a bug?

I can't reproduce this. Tokyokid - could you attach a sample hold that shows this problem?

Invisible or not, things tend to die when smitten by a Really Big Sword. This is why a good architect places his/her NPCs out of harm's way and/or makes them invincible.

Invisible NPCs are not part of the game world, and are not supposed to interact with Beethro.

Continuing on the room entry bugs, I noticed this a few weeks back when playing "Echoes". I can't remember it being anywhere else but apologies if it has.

If your sword is on a brain upon entering the room, the brain does not die. Swinging off it makes the brain appear and it can then be killed.

This seems inconsistent with all other monsters.

Using latest patch...

That sounds like what happens if a monster is generated from a script, using "appear at". It is consistent, with all script-generated monsters. It'd be very surprised if it happens to brains placed as monsters.

Indeed, but I'm pretty sure the brain wasn't scripted. I can't see why it would be.

Anyways, I'll take a look tonight if I find the time to boot up DROD.

There are no brains on room edges in MetDROiD Echoes. The only rooms where there are monsters (other than characters) on room edges are Temple Gardens: 2W (Wraithwings on (30-32,31)) and Winter Factory: 1S3E (Seep on (21,0)).

It wasn't a brain on a room edge, but one square in.
I remember it was in the temple gardens and one of the earlier rooms you encounter (though not solveable til much later). It had 7 trapdoors I think and some... hang on.

/me checks H&S

Ok, 1S 1E. Looks like eytanz is right. From the screenshot it appears the brains start of as NPCs. Strange.

It was definitely a confusing moment for me... :)

Yeah, I forgot about those... There are five of them.
