I'm having trouble installing the libmetakit-dev packaged off the Ubuntu package servers. It is supposedly corrupted, which is a real bummer since I've got everything else ready to compile. Any ideas? I tried downloading it and installing it locally, but I then discovered that I have no idea how to install it from a local file. So, I'm asking for assistance in getting it to work. I haven't encountered this with any other package, so I'm a bit confused. Help!

So, if I understood correctly, you don't know how to install a .deb package locally, right?

dpkg -i <package name>

Thanks muchly. Let´s try that out.

EDIT: Okay, the problem is that it´s trying to overwrite a file in one of it´s dependent packages. I guess that there´s nothing to do but wait until the fixed one comes out.
