On the Holds board, there aren't any new posts: none of the folders are red, because I've read everything posted since the last time I'd read everything there. (Did that make sense?) The last post--which I've read--is in Tar Ballroom, at 4:26 pm, by larrymurk. Well and good.

But on the CaravelNet Forum page, the Holds folder is red, as if there's something in there I haven't read. (Last post, 4:26 pm, by larrymurk.) This isn't a cached-page thing; I've reloaded, and I've seen other folders turn from red to yellow as I've read other boards.

This seems like a bug. Is there a hidden folder on the Holds board with a post to it, that I can't see? Is something else going on?

I think this problem happens when a post is made and deleted. When this happens, it still thinks the deleted post is unread. You can temporarily fix it by clicking the "Mark all posts in Holds as read" link.

Hmm...that makes sense...if this is the problem, it can probably be fixed by marking the post "read" for all users when deleting it.

This happened to me once, but when I scrolled right down to the bottom of the page, I discovered that there was a topic that I hadn't read.

I'll bet that this has something to do with Schik testing this... ;)

I saw the same thing just now... but yeah, agreeing with Briareos that's it's probably to do with Schik's testing.

Yeah. Normal posts, when deleted, *are* marked as read for everybody. I had posted a new Hold and used a special admin tool to remove the Hold, which does a lot more than just delete the topic. However, it apparently forgets to mark it as read.

Incidentally, Princess Ophelie is still listed in the drop-down menu of holds when you go to Hints and Solutions, and in the Unexplored Holds section of "My Stats".

Whoops, thanks. I've removed it, I think completely.

Perhaps a corrolary to the initial post--I'm not sure they have the same cause, but it's vaguely similar.

The top post on the Forum Games board (as seen in the attached image) has a notably earlier last-post date than the ones that follow it. My guess is that this resulted from someone posting and then deleting the post; but it'd be nice if it sorted to the right place on the board, I should think.

BUMP.

This bug seems to be present still, as I have a red folder by the Holds Board, yet there doesn't appear to be any new posts. Or is there a known explaination for this that I am not aware of? Or is it simply due to Schik playing with the new Hold Admin brouhaha again?

Bingo.

Edit: I've removed that post from the unread table, so it shouldn't be unnecessarily red for anyone now.

(Well, if we mod him down, he might make more! We wouldn't want that would we.)

Hmmm, I hope Schik decides that he shouldn't read what is in brackets.

Umm... the parentheses are arguments for his functions. Now he's sure to see that.

I know whenever I start an argument about Schik's functions, he always sees it. We've nearly come to blows a coupla times!

That doesn't work, compiler aborts giving me the "excessively polite" error.
