I'm not getting this room. I'm not sure what to do in order to get the door to the upper area open. If I allow the roach egg to grow I'm not able to pass the doors below. I'm sure it's pretty easy, but I need a hint. By the way it's been a fun hold so far. Thanks

Well I'm still not getting it. I can drop all the trapdoors without spawning any roaches. I then thought that if I could

But I don't have time to do that, so I thinkt hat theory doesn't work. Have tried following the secret text of jblustein as much as I understand it. No joy! what to do? HElp please

YEs I understand it perfectly now. I was being dim earlier and misunderstood the clue, which was perfectly clear. All is solved now.

Well, I don't get it, and I really don't see this room. Does this mean there is another room I have to complete first, or is there a bug in my copy?

Well, this room is a bit difficult to understand as the scroll isn't very descriptive. Basically, if the queen spawns, you can't complete it so make sure she doesn't. From memory, that means no creatures spawn in 1 or 2 (well, def 1... not sure about 2). If they do spawn, the room is impossible.

What you're seeing on the room pic is script points. Some are triggers, whilst others are on timers. Can't remeber why killing the queen straight off doesn't work, but it's probably a scripting thing. To solve this room, you need her alive, and to not spawn. That's what the scroll hints at I guess.

I have read all the hints. I can drop the trap doors but I can't get to the orbs and back before the queen spawns. What am I missing?

leefa, I think that you're missing the sword orientation. Think of a sword position you need to hit the orb without spending some turns on sword rotation.

Heya! Not having any difficulty getting past the little alcove intact, but I can't figure out a way of getting that roach up into the portal! Nobody seems to be having a problem with this, so I'm assuming that it's really obvious. Still, I've tried a number of combinations and the lack of a red x has meant that I'm always starting again from the beginning... Any tips?

I think that it's important to remember that whenever a monster wants to move diagonally, but can only move either horizontally or vertically, the monster will always choose vertical direction. This feature will help you solve other holds too, not just this one.

Thanks, Briareos and Igusarov, but I'm still not getting it...
When you say that I can step NE around the large rock, I can't even get to the NW corner of that rock with the roach still to my west. I'm forced to keep it to the west of the first small rock while I stand at the east, and then I must choose between leading it up the west side of the big rock, or having it wait for me to the south of that rock, nestled against the other small one.

Well, I've read all the hints (several times!!), but still can't figure this out. I realise I need to But I cannot get back to the queen quickly enough to stop the spawn... it takes 34 moves (no sword turning) to get there and back. This means that
