Since our current contest doesn't list the order in which people were eliminated, I have decided to take it upon myself to list this.

I'll just keep updating this list via editing. Feel free to comment if I got something wrong, or if you really feel your snake didn't deserve to die just yet, or for trash talk of any sort. (Within forum guidelines, please.)

I will endeavor to list the turn on which each snake died, but since I don't see any obvious way to do that unless I actually observe the death, I may not get each one exactly right. I'll do my best, though! Please post a correction for me if you see a mistake!

If it's not too much work, could you also mention which turn each snake died on?

Thanks wallu!

I'm pretty sure jamesdenem died on turn 150...but I could be off by one in either direction.

Interesting also to note that Tahnan and darkmatt will die on the same turn, although Tahnan will be considered to have died first due to his higher priority.

True true. I suspect that he won't be the next to go, though.

Tim0006 will die on turn #222.

Someone Else is also doomed, of course, but he can still affect how long he lasts.

Ok, I think right now Someone Else is fated to die at turn 251 regardless of his choices.

Agreed - regardless of his and anyone else's choices.

Okay, I have been trying to follow along with the contest, and look at the game board every once in a while. I have a couple of questions, one of which I'm kind of afraid to ask.
1st - How far can a snake jump?
2nd (the one I was afraid to ask) - How come McFrugal died at spot 117,12? Couldn't he/she have jumped to spot 77,12?

I know you can't jump over walls, but I thought you could jump over other snakes and red blocks? :? :blush

Just curious. Thanks.

There's no distance limit. As long as there's nothing blocking your way, you can jump.

2nd (the one I was afraid to ask) - How come McFrugal died at spot 117,12? Couldn't he/she have jumped to spot 77,12?

You can jump over other snakes' bodies, but not over their heads. When McFrugal reached that spot, there was a serpent head blocking his jump, so he died. Since the other serpent didn't die, it's head isn't there anymore.

A snake can jump as far as it likes provided it does not jump over another snake's head or a wall (the brownish tiles with silver spots on it). I have not checked, but I am assuming that there was a snake's head in the way at the time preventing McFrugal from jumping from (117, 12) to (77, 12).

The snake in question was Maurog, who has since gone on to his own snakey reward.

Thanks for all of the explanations, I knew there had to be a reason, I guess I just missed looking at the board around that time.

...I lose to Maurog by one tile. Just how annoying is that? :D

Bah, why'd they have to seal the top-left room entrance that was unused? That would've been an awesome place to end up at. (And I seem to have a mostly clear route there, if I for some reason wanted to go for it)

Huh? It's still possible to enter that chamber.

Yes, that's what I meant. By sealing, I mean the tile that would lead out of the main arena.

OK, Stephen4Louise is now on the Dead Snakes list as #29.

Looks like I'll be occupying the 28th spot in another 12 hours or so... :(

Jason is on the prospective Dead Snakes list now. Projected turn of death: 265. I believe it's unavoidable now.

Argh! Death throes!

And Jason managed to outlast me. :weep

I had it figured that I could last another 200+ turns, if it hadn't been for eytanz and then the sudden surprise of Michthro. I guess it was too good to be reserved for me alone. At least those two get to fight it out, and I'll be watching their progress.

Jeff

I'm pretty sure NiroZ is going to die, and there's nothing anybody can do about it, but the turn depends on what moves he decides to take.

I agree -- NiroZ is clearly doomed, but he has a lot of paths he could take to that doom. So I'll be waiting until we have a situation he can't affect at all.

You've written above that Doom will die on turn 305.

He could die on turns 291, 296 or 298 as well.

In fact, as of 25 minutes ago, turn 298 is the longest he can live to now, although he can still die earlier.
