This software is free for non-commercial use, and apparently runs on desktop class hardware. Linux port is planned, too. By the way, terragen2 will also be free for non-commercial use, and at least commandline linux version is planned.
I might try it with wine once initial shock wears away, but I only have 1x512RAM ddr400 and Athlon XP 2800+.

Yeah, especially the Terragen 2 galleries - I've played around with version 1 some time ago, but it's a difference like night and day... o_O indeed...
