Doom, did you missed this post? (previous page)

Danforth isn't a character from the Eighth. He exists in our own world, or at least a fictional one very much like it. No doubt liberties will be taken here and there suggesting he has access to the Eighth, but he's pretty much just an American born in the 20th century.
So, Danforth's original calendar would have "January". Why he replaced the letters "an" for "an" would be a mystery to me though...

Anyway, me thinks the calendar is great! ;)

Heh heh. This reminds me of the tiniest joke I ever made. Look very, very closely at the desk graphic in DROD: Journey to Rooted Hold. It contains one item portrayed with such scrupulous attention to detail that you will never doubt me again when I say...

And now, my third joke. I wish I was a better artist for this one, but, well, I'm not.

Anyway -

This is yet another motivational poster. But it's not just any motivational poster. It advertises a quality that's been stressed time and again as being very important in this very contest. A quality which, whatever his other shortcomings may be, Danforth possesses to much the same extent as the beloved Beethro Budkin. A quality necessary to every salesman who considers himself to have any sort of refinement or finesse. I present to you -

Semi-explantion (since I don't think the art is good enough to carry itself):

You know, I realized that I could just use graphics from a mod I'd made. No stealing here!

Then I realized that I don't yet have graphics for either Beethro or Goblins (which I need), so I might have to hand-draw them, or just render a sloppy version pretty quickly.

I justified the use of January to myself by looking at the graph on the wall. It uses the months of our calendar year. :D As for crossing out the "an," it just didn't read as clearly if you only replaced the J with the D. Having the entire name stand out like that worked better in my opinion.

Glad you like it.

Clayton, I love your "atrophy" one. I think it is entirely clever and should be given a prize.
Eytanz's thing is great, too, but I'm not keen on the choice of "subtlety" as the caption. It's so blatantly not subtle that it doesn't feel creative. Maybe something like, "go for the sale!" or something would work better. My opinion.

My own idea, which is mine, is something with a bunch of businessmen with suits and briefcases with large swords on their backs and caption of, "everyone's a hero."
Maybe.

Andrei.

Hmm, I hate to say it, but I think that even though I'm pretty sure I recognize the item in question, I'm afraid I don't get the joke. Could someone more enlightened fill me in?

Jason, I removed the attachment. You're not allowed to redistribute graphics from JtRH without permission. Also, JtRH graphics are definitely not Public Domain, which is how you attached the file.

Here's the best way to do shading: Create a new layer. Select an area equivalent to where you want to shade, and fill it with a black-to-white gradient. Adjust the alpha value of the layer (Go Layers->Colors->Levels. Pick the drop-down menu labeled Value. Change it to Alpha. Drag the rightmost slider on the Output bar left to make it more transparent.), then merge it down. Shadings are pretty easy if and when you know what you're doing. Now, it can get harder for shaped things, but it helps.
