Here's an idea, but since I'm not going to draw it anyone who wants to try it out is welcome.

What about doing the ol' cliche

It is cliche, so I don't know what chance it would have in the contest, but it does seem like something Danforth could do.

Whenever I see the phrase "World's greatest salesman" on this forum, I immediately think of one of Gary Larson's Far Side cartoons, where the salesman is in a boat (or is he on a block of ice?) floating away from, and waving to, a group of Eskimos, each with their own refridgerator freezer.

I don't participate in nearly enough contests, so I'll at least add my token effort. This is another of the "motivational" type posters. I'd like to do another one that's more original... we'll see if I have time.

Two questions:

1. Does the poster have to relate to DROD sales in any way, or can it be about anything?

2. Was it ever made clear whether Danforth was an Imperial(Empirial? Empirical? Integral?!?) worker, or just a *really* pale guy?

Ah. I think the problem for me is that the caption is "Strive". The thing is - mountain climbing is not something you do to achieve a result. The whole point is the effort. Thus, striving actually is the important part, not the end result. So the size of the flag doesn't matter as much as the size of the mountain does. Sure, mountain climbing is sort of pointless from a purely goal-driven point of view, but it seems to me that this is a poster which Danforth (who is an "end-justifies-the-means" guy) would find weird but I find normal, as opposed to vice-versa.

If the caption was "Make a difference" or something like that, I wouldn't have this problem, but "strive" just seems like the proper caption here, not a subtle joke.

Anything.

Heh. The word you want is "Imperial". We've actually been harrassing Patrick Fisher about using "Empirian" for a while now.

Danforth isn't a character from the Eighth. He exists in our own world, or at least a fictional one very much like it. No doubt liberties will be taken here and there suggesting he has access to the Eighth, but he's pretty much just an American born in the 20th century. If you missed it, check out his biography.

Ooh, I like that. With that difference even more exaggerated, it would be easy to spot.

Well, I'm no artist... but I believe the salesman of the decade would definitely have the following quote on his wall:

"Money don't make my world go round... I'm reaching up to a higher ground!"

For anyone who's seen "The Office", you'll know exactly why it's so appropriate ;) Then again, it's probably not public domain.

Now that I actually have some free time, I'll have to come up with something clever for this. Of course, the copyright rules prevent me from using what I'd really like to, which is attached to this post.

I have less than zero skill with graphics programs, but I'll share my idea anyway. Anyone is welcome to use it if they wish.

My inspiration is all those beautiful inspirational posters.

So, picture a dark hallway, kind of hold-like, with an upcoming corner. Because of your angle on the corner, you can see the body (and the iris) of an Evil Eye peeking out around the corner.

The caption: VISION.

Whaddaya think? (I actually tried to make a picture that looked like this, but gave up after being unable to get it anything like I wanted it.)

Josh

I took slightly different approach to the wall space.

Another idea that I'm artistically incapable of implementing (that I offer to the pool of ideas) is that of an open wall safe with cobwebs and some goofy menagerie of items.
